To
begin with, I thought I’d start off by telling you a bit about myself and how I
ended up writing for S&S. Like most of you, I’ve been fascinated by all
things spiritual since I was a little girl and would literally spend every day
after school sitting in Woolworths scouring the magazines for anything relating
to the supernatural. By the time I was 13, I was utterly hooked and would often
spend hours, if not whole days, sitting by an open fire, with a cup of steaming
hot cocoa and some freshly baked biscuits, listening to my aunt Margaret
talking about the supernatural world and all the amazing experiences she’d had.
Of course, by this time, I’d already decided I wanted to be a writer and, after
completing my degree and embarking on what seemed like a never-ending stream of
work placements, including one where I was sent to buy someone a banana in the
pouring rain – yes, really! – I finally got what I thought was my dream job
working on a glossy London magazine. Unfortunately, I soon realised that writing
about celebrities, and what they’d eaten for breakfast , wasn’t really for me,
and applied for a job at Aceville, the company that publishes S&S, six
months later.
After working on four of the company’s other titles for several years, I was
delighted when the deputy position on S&S became available, and jumped at
the chance to write for my favourite magazine and the rest, as they say, is
history. I’ve now been working on it for just over a year and can honestly say
I’ve never felt happier or more at peace with myself than I do now, and
literally can’t wait to get into the office each morning.
However, like many of you, I’m just beginning my spiritual journey and, while I’ve
already made a lot of positive changes in my life over the past year, I’m still
very much at the start of my personal journey; where it’ll take me, I don’t know;
but I guess that’s the great thing about life: you never know what’s around the
corner; so please join me, as I embark on this magical adventure, and seek to
change myself, and the world, for the better.
